The Great Reunion Trip Part 1

OK we have returned from our vacation to the great state of New Jersey. The target was Pat’s high school reunion but we took enough time to play tourist and visitor. We had a really fun time. Since we both were raised in the area but moved away many years ago it was  trip down memory lane.

First stop was my birth place in Pennsylvania. The house is now gone but I got pictures of the new building. Sad to say there was no historical (hysterical?) marker there. We drove around a bit, looked at some places I have not seen in so long, had dinner and moved on to New Jersey.

We visited Pat’s sister Laurie and family, took a day to tour the area and then had dinner with an old (young) friend.

On Thursday friends Ed & Ellen took us to WheatonArts in Millville, NJ. A really nice place to visit and a wonderful American Glass Museum. The trip was worth the time and I would recommend it to anyone. What made it better was the companionship of Ed & Ellen.

Next up the reunion.

I titled this Part 1 so that when we get the pictures finished I can put some of them up here and some at Picasa and put a link here for all to see. We had a wonderful time at the reunion and I am going to ask Pat for help in writing that part up.

I along with many others have learned that you can’t go home. (Thomas Wolf wrote the book). It was fun and seeing the people was great however home is here. Home is wherever we are.

Note: This is the first post since last year that I have put up here. I will try again to post more news as time goes on. I remember the Christmas letter we used to get from people however I would like to do this more often than once a year. We shall see.

Grandchildren & Drum Corp

Blue Devils at DCI 2008Image by Scutter via FlickrWe got to see and meet up with one of our grandchildren, Kyle, last night and it was a really great time. He is part of the support staff with the Blue Devils B Corp from Concord, CA. They were in Indianapolis for the Drum Corp International (DCI) championships.

With his schedule we thought we would only see Kyle for a short time however we were allowed spend a few hours with him and it was really great. We also got to see the corp practice and then do a complete run through of their show.

The show was very good, we were impressed. We have been around Drum Corp since our son's first involvement in 1981 and always enjoy a great performance and this was one.

Note: Blue Devils B Corp won the DCI Open Finals this afternoon with a 97.5. Again WOW! Tonight the Blue Devils A Corp will be going after the World Finals and we will be rooting for them.

Next year Kyle will be marching with the Blue Devils  B Corp and we will be trying to see all the shows we can, finals will be one of them. It is a wonderful activity and I can see the effect on

It was  a great time with our grandchild and I don't think it gets much better than this.

First Post

Hi I am Walter and Pat is sitting beside me. She is not aware that I am starting this blog however she will soon discover this. I have started this blog to track what we do. Our life, our time and our condo. It will not be an intimate view of our lives but will bring out those things that we do for living and for fun.

We love the place that we live, the people we know and the places we go. I have started this to be a little more public with out lives, now I have to get Pat to write also.

We have been married 48 years and have been together for over 51 years, that is a long time. We love each other and as I said where we live. We have changes that we would like to make to our condo and we will track that here.

Our son lives in California with his family and we live in Ohio. If I can talk them into it perhaps he or Katy will blog sometime also. I would love to get the kids (the grandchildren) blogging but we will have to wait and see about that.

Ok for the first entry. Let's see how this goes.
